RAID Incorporated’s new Magellan series is the latest in storage architecture driven by a high performance 4Gb Fibre Channel controller or 3Gb SAS controller which enables a scalable solution of 80 drives using either 3GB SATA-2 or SAS disk drives. The single or dual controller solution is designed for users that demand high performance and need a mid-level expandable solution. The Magellan is available in a 12 or 16-bay modular solution that allows customers to expand storage needs over time. The modular design allows users to expand storage needs to a maximum of 5 chassis or 80 drives.

Reliable and Cost Effective

Now, customers who preferred SCSI solutions for reliability can migrate to a total backbone of SAS using low cost SATA-2 drives, SAS drives or any combination of both.

The Magellan is the first generation in tiered storage that uses 15,000 RPM SAS drives and 7,200 RPM SATA-2 drives allowing you to match drive technology to application and performance requirements. Advances in SCSI technology enabled the next generation of Serial Attached SCSI architecture at significantly lower price points than comparable Fibre Channel solutions. Magellan systems can scale to 80TB for SAN storage initiatives.
