Customer Need – Production Grade HPC Solution

One of the largest private research organizations in the world contacted RAID, Inc. to design a production grade HPC solution for its genomics research program. The solution needed to provide an infrastructure with the ability to perform highly regulated, controlled experiments within the constructs of existing policies and priorities.

Examination of Current Environment

After RAID, Inc. examined each layer of the existing environment and mapped out client goals and expectations, the team evaluated trade offs between performance, functionality, and usability. Thanks to deep experience in the Life Sciences industry, the team was able to meet the company’s storage and throughput requirements with a custom solution.

GPFS Software Defined Storage: Solution Development & Testing

RAID, Inc. developed a compute cluster with a 1 PB Perseus GPFS solution, which would allow the client to run more complex applications and faster datasets. Additionally, RAID Inc. tied the solution into the existing network and fine-tuned their applications.

Results = Faster Workflow + Custom Storage Solution

RAID Inc. exceeded the customer’s expectation in the initial engagement, delivering a solution that performed even better than expected. Three months later, the customer asked for another custom storage solution which included a 1.5PB GPFS-based archive featuring RAID Inc.’s ARI storage arrays.
